I’m alive…

I know it’s been like forever since I last updated everyone on what’s been going on with me.  So, hopefully, I can do one massive update of the highlights.

I finished my girl’s season the first weekend of June.  We ended up finishing with 477 out of 500 points possible. This put us in 7th place out of all the area teams.  This was a great bunch of girls.  We had our after the season party at one of the player’s houses on June 20.  I ended up getting a gift certificate for $100 for Michael’s.  This was an awesome gift.  In the past, my club teams have given me gift certificates for a spa session, but I end up never using it so it becomes a waste of money.  This is the first time, when I used up the gift certificate within the same weekend.

On June 26, I started my open gyms for my high school girls at Wilcox.  The turn out has been pretty good so far.  This upcoming season is going to be a challenge because of players not being available due to health or grade issues.  So, we’ll see what happens.

As for me, I’m actually playing now on Tuesdays (co-ed) and Thursdays (woman) leagues.  It’s weird to actually be playing instead of coaching.  The very first week, I already had issues with the referring because I’m so used to sets being called and nothing was done.  So, I’m trying to get my mind set on just worrying about playing.  We’ll see what happens at the end.  I’m sure both teams are going to be grateful that I’m not going to be coming back.

Nothing much to report on because everything is still the same. I was reminded recently that I am on a fixed term position, so I’ll have to update my resume soon, just in case.  One of my co-workers did suggest that I work with my boss to change my positon to an actual staff position instead of a fixed term.  So, this is one of the many projects I’m going to think about doing.

My girlfriend, Susan K. got married on 4th of July in Vegas.  We couldn’t go to the actual wedding, however, I did get to participate through the webcast.  It was great.  She looked so pretty.  And the guy that was doing the ceremony was funny.  He told all kinds of jokes. I cried just like I would have if I was there.  I’m so happy for her.

Tina and I took Susan to a spa last week Friday for Susan’s bridal shower.  It was awesome. This was the first time that I got an actual massage.  The lady told me that I was hard as a rock, so she had to really dig deal to get my muscles to relax.  But, now I’m addict so I want to go back for another massage and a facial.

I’m still doing my homework for CKU.  I originally wanted to get everything done before we leave on vacation, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen unless I get my butt in gear.  I don’t have a lot left, but enough to raise the stress level a bit.

I do have a secret sister that I’ve been communicating with for CKU. She lives in Colorado. Her birthday is July 15, so I need to figure out a way to send her a box of goodies.  So far, she’s liking the goodies that I’ve been sending, so I’m excited.  I’m thinking if I can send the box from Nevada, that would totally confuse her.

Home Life

Gary and I went to Reno on June 6-8 for his annual SP Bowling tournament.  On June 6, we stopped off in Tahoe to celebrate Malina’s 16th birthday with my family.  I can’t believe that she’s 16 already.  Time definitely flies by when you least expect it.

At Gary’s tournament, his double partner, Sean, bowled a perfect game (300) and a 800 series.  It was great. I believe because of these high scores, they were able to make some money from the tournament.

We actually leave for our vacation to Laughlin and Vegas on Saturday. We had my in-laws over last night for dinner to show them how to work the alarm system on the house. The last time they watched the cats for us, we didn’t have the alarym, so now it’s a little more work for them just to watch the cats.

This past 4th of July weekend was an expensive one for us too. Our water heater ended up having a leak, so we had to call out a plumber to replace the entire thing. It turns out that the water heater was over 20 years old, so it was a positive that we got it replaced. I won’t say how much it actually costs, but now it doesn’t look like I’m going to be a new car any time soon. 🙂 I was originally planning on going to Maureen’s to spend the holiday with her and the kids, but my attitude was bad, so I decided to stay home and torture Gary instead. To brighten my spirts, Gary ended up taking me to the drive-ins.  We saw Hancock with Will Smith and Zohan with Adam Sandler.  I’ll type up my review comments in another blog.

I think that’s it for now. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. As for me, I’m on the official count down now.
