CKU-Provo here I come…

So, Gary said it was okay for me to go back to Utah for CKU-Provo again. I’m so excited. This time though, I’m not joining a dorm. I am going with my girlfriend, Melannie.  I actually met her the last time at CKU-Provo when we were part of the same dorm. I figured if I don’t join a dorm, the cost will be cheaper. Plus, I’m splitting the cost of the hotel room and rental car with Melannie. I will be staying at the Marriott Provo again. I would never go back to CKU without staying at the hotel. It was so nice to return to the room to drop off things.

Melannie and I have already spoke about our schedules and what we plan on doing regarding the album track and core classes. All we need now is for April 22 to arrive.

In the mean time, I’m going to try to get some of my other scrapbooking projects done from the last CKU. It would be too weird to go back knowing the projects from the previous year aren’t completed yet. Luckily, one of my goals for 2009 was to complete projects, so majority of the CKU projects are done. I just need to add pictures or journaling. I’ll try to take pictures of the different projects to post. This way, it will remind me what I’ve accomplished over the past year.

Twilight

So, during Neo’s recovery, I had to take a week off of work to make sure that he was okay. During this time, Rebbeca, my assistant coach, told me to read the Twilight series. I heard about the books, but never had any interest in reading them.  I started to read Twilight the 1st book and the next thing I knew, I read it very quickly. I couldn’t wait to see Rebbeca to get the 2nd and 3rd book from her. It turns out that she didn’t have the 4th book because she lent it to a friend. Since I knew I was going to have time to read all the books, I ended up going to Costco to pick up the complete series.

Twilight Series I ended up reading all 4 books within a week. Since the movie has been out since November 2008, I wanted to see it. So, Gary ended up taking me to the drive ins. Now, if you read the book first like I did, you can tell that some things were totally different. It didn’t build up the relationship of Edward and Bella as the book did.  However, Gary enjoyed the movie. I’m thinking if I saw the movie first and than read the books I probably would have enjoyed it better.

The crazy part was after we saw the movie, I had to come home and read the first book again. I had to try to figure out what the differences were between the two. Of course, I couldn’t stop so I ended up reading all of the books again. I know I’m a crazy person. But I really did enjoy the love story.

The actual DVD is coming out on March 21 for the movie. I can’t wait to see it again. One of the bad parts about a drive in is the quality of the sound along with the dark scenes of the movie. When I’m at home, it’s like watching the movie for the first time again, but with better quality.

The 2nd book is also becoming a movie. They are starting to film it this month with a release date of November 2009. Hopefully, it will be released some time around my birthday so I can ask Gary to take me to see that one at the drive ins as well. I’m so excited. I’m now one of the millions that fell into the Twilight Series.

Thanks Beca!!

I’m alive…

I know it’s been like forever since I last updated everyone on what’s been going on with me.  So, hopefully, I can do one massive update of the highlights.

Volleyball

I finished my girl’s season the first weekend of June.  We ended up finishing with 477 out of 500 points possible. This put us in 7th place out of all the area teams.  This was a great bunch of girls.  We had our after the season party at one of the player’s houses on June 20.  I ended up getting a gift certificate for $100 for Michael’s.  This was an awesome gift.  In the past, my club teams have given me gift certificates for a spa session, but I end up never using it so it becomes a waste of money.  This is the first time, when I used up the gift certificate within the same weekend.

On June 26, I started my open gyms for my high school girls at Wilcox.  The turn out has been pretty good so far.  This upcoming season is going to be a challenge because of players not being available due to health or grade issues.  So, we’ll see what happens.

As for me, I’m actually playing now on Tuesdays (co-ed) and Thursdays (woman) leagues.  It’s weird to actually be playing instead of coaching.  The very first week, I already had issues with the referring because I’m so used to sets being called and nothing was done.  So, I’m trying to get my mind set on just worrying about playing.  We’ll see what happens at the end.  I’m sure both teams are going to be grateful that I’m not going to be coming back.

Work

Nothing much to report on because everything is still the same. I was reminded recently that I am on a fixed term position, so I’ll have to update my resume soon, just in case.  One of my co-workers did suggest that I work with my boss to change my positon to an actual staff position instead of a fixed term.  So, this is one of the many projects I’m going to think about doing.

My girlfriend, Susan K. got married on 4th of July in Vegas.  We couldn’t go to the actual wedding, however, I did get to participate through the webcast.  It was great.  She looked so pretty.  And the guy that was doing the ceremony was funny.  He told all kinds of jokes. I cried just like I would have if I was there.  I’m so happy for her.

Tina and I took Susan to a spa last week Friday for Susan’s bridal shower.  It was awesome. This was the first time that I got an actual massage.  The lady told me that I was hard as a rock, so she had to really dig deal to get my muscles to relax.  But, now I’m addict so I want to go back for another massage and a facial.

Scrapbooking

I’m still doing my homework for CKU.  I originally wanted to get everything done before we leave on vacation, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen unless I get my butt in gear.  I don’t have a lot left, but enough to raise the stress level a bit.

I do have a secret sister that I’ve been communicating with for CKU. She lives in Colorado. Her birthday is July 15, so I need to figure out a way to send her a box of goodies.  So far, she’s liking the goodies that I’ve been sending, so I’m excited.  I’m thinking if I can send the box from Nevada, that would totally confuse her.

Home Life

Gary and I went to Reno on June 6-8 for his annual SP Bowling tournament.  On June 6, we stopped off in Tahoe to celebrate Malina’s 16th birthday with my family.  I can’t believe that she’s 16 already.  Time definitely flies by when you least expect it.

At Gary’s tournament, his double partner, Sean, bowled a perfect game (300) and a 800 series.  It was great. I believe because of these high scores, they were able to make some money from the tournament.

We actually leave for our vacation to Laughlin and Vegas on Saturday. We had my in-laws over last night for dinner to show them how to work the alarm system on the house. The last time they watched the cats for us, we didn’t have the alarym, so now it’s a little more work for them just to watch the cats.

This past 4th of July weekend was an expensive one for us too. Our water heater ended up having a leak, so we had to call out a plumber to replace the entire thing. It turns out that the water heater was over 20 years old, so it was a positive that we got it replaced. I won’t say how much it actually costs, but now it doesn’t look like I’m going to be a new car any time soon. 🙂 I was originally planning on going to Maureen’s to spend the holiday with her and the kids, but my attitude was bad, so I decided to stay home and torture Gary instead. To brighten my spirts, Gary ended up taking me to the drive-ins.  We saw Hancock with Will Smith and Zohan with Adam Sandler.  I’ll type up my review comments in another blog.

I think that’s it for now. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. As for me, I’m on the official count down now.

Guilty Pleasures…

Yes, I know it’s a sad thing to admit, but I love Gossip Girl.  I used to watch Gilmore Girls faithfully, so I guess this show is my new Gilmore Girls.  Tonight is a new show after a month off.  And after Gossip Girl is One Tree Hill.  I guess I love to live life through high school tv shows.  Well actually, One Tree Hill isn’t high school anymore, but the concept is still the same.

I also will admit that I enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars as well.  The positive about a show on ABC is you can watch it on-line the day after so I don’t have to worry about setting up my vcr to tape it.  I was a little upset with myself last night when I realized I missed Oprah’s Big Give Finale.  I’ve been watching this show on and off for the time it was on mainly because it was right after Home Extreme Make Over.  But the last couple of weeks Make Over hasn’t been on, so I’ve been forgetting that the Big Give is on.

Well Gossip Girl is on so I have to run.  I’ll let everyone know what happens with volleyball tomorrow.
